Epping Forest – London’s urban woodland – touches every corner of Waltham Forest, from Leyton in the South to Chingford in the North.
An escape from city and modern life, it has played, and continues to play, an integral role in the life of London’s diverse communities.
Throughout Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019, we have been exploring the complexity of our human relationship to the forest and the myriad of meanings that we place upon woodlands in a year-long programme of events: The People's Forest.
From poetry to protest, artists and residents have been invited to respond to the forest through the seasons.
There’s still time to catch Epping Forest artist-in-residence Ellie Wilson’s sound installation Echoes, on at The View until 3 January 2020. Keep scrolling for a look back at the full People's Forest programme.
