Welcome to Waltham Forest Fashion
Waltham Forest has a rich heritage of artisans, craft and manufacturing. Inspired by this and the urgent need to reduce the negative environmental impact of fast fashion, Waltham Forest Council and the London Fashion District have joined forces to make it a place where fashion businesses can thrive. This is also in light of the move that London College of Fashion (LCF) UAL is making to East Bank in Stratford.
With supportive networks, affordable workspace and business programmes that build resilience and sustainability, we will encourage a connected, diverse and environmentally conscious fashion and textile business community in the borough.

Forge Fashion Programme
A key part of Waltham Forest Fashion is our delivery of a new programme with Creative United, called Forge Fashion, which is helping 30 of Waltham Forest’s fashion and textile businesses to thrive sustainably. Forge Fashion will provide tailored business support through workshops, one-to-one advice and networking from October-December 2020. While 30 businesses have already applied and been accepted on to the programme, the Forge Fashion networking events are open to all. Visit Creative United webpage to learn more
CUT – Community United Together
Shift the Power, Change the Button
Under the Waltham Forest Fashion umbrella, a project is being led by the London College of Fashion (funded by the Great Place programme), raising awareness of knife crime by turning knives into buttons and rivets to make customised pairs of jeans. Various events and activities are taking place around this important project and more information can be read in the CUT Participant information document.
Making For Change
Making for Change: Waltham Forest is a partnership project between the London College of Fashion (LCF) and the London Borough of Waltham Forest and the Great Place scheme.
Adopting a design activist approach, the project aimed at engaging through fashion and making, local schools, businesses and residents in order to develop and retain creative talent in the borough and address issues affecting the community, such as deprived youth, skills shortage, fashion manufacturing decline and unemployment.
The project aimed to bring together LCF and Waltham Forest Council as long-term partners with aligned strategic objectives and shared plans beyond Waltham Forest's year of culture in 2019, in light of the College’s move to East London and the vision of the Fashion District.
Arbeit Studios at Leyton Green
Formerly a vacant Morrisons supermarket, Arbeit Studios at Leyton Green features 13 studios and a communal space where events and courses can be held. Most of the units benefit from natural light and are on street level. The site is located in a busy area and would be suitable for whoever is willing to show and sell their products. Fashion and textile designers are particularly welcome! This co-working hub was created as a part of our local Fashion District initiative to provide affordable workspace for fashion start-ups.
