Walthamstow-born tour guide Abdulmaalik Tailor will lead a series of Culinary Walking Tours of Waltham Forest's diverse communities.
Travelling from cafes to bakeries, get ready to introduce your tastebuds to every sensation this vibrant place has to offer.
Remember to wear loose clothes, bring a good appetite and don’t be in a hurry to get anywhere else – these tours could last from brunch till dinner!
About the Leytonstone tour:
This edition of Abdulmaalik’s tours will take place in fabulous Leytonstone!
Join the move to Leytonstone like many of the artistic crowd – well for one day at least – and discover some of the hidden independent eateries loved by locals and fellow Londoners, and learn of local tales that make this place once known as Leytonstonia what it is today.
On this tour you be taken on an amazing journey through this neighbourhood’s diverse cusines: from the healthy Cafe in the Park, to a Jamaican patty machine, the friendly owner of a cosy Turkish restaurant to the only Moroccan Restaurant in Waltham Forest.
See the site where Leytonstone’s very own Alfred Hitchcock was born and the home of a fictitious relative of the Queen who is next in succession!
Behind every dish there is a story, a history, and an opportunity for you to learn from each culture.
Please note: There is a maximum of two tickets per booking. You will be contacted in advance of the tour with details of where to meet on the day and to enquire if you have any dietary requirements.
Culinary Tours will be taking place across the borough in Leytonstone, Walthamstow, Leyton and Chingford. Visit the Waltham Forest Tours page for details.
