This summer Rebel Brass Band will bring together up to 50 young people aged 11-18 of all backgrounds and corners of Waltham Forest, working alongside a collective of leading musical artists to co-create Waltham Forest’s first ever high-energy New York-style street band: Rebel Brass Band.
Taking place over four days in the summer holiday 2019, Rebel Brass Band is a FREE opportunity for young people interested in percussion, brass players of Grade 2+ standard and a group of rappers chosen through a public competition. There will also be six free Arts Award Bronze places for people aged 16 to 25-years-old.
Drawing on the Waltham Forest Borough of Culture themes of Fellowship, Makers and Radicals, young people will come together as a collective fellowship and equal voice; they will be empowered to deliver messages they feel passionate about as Waltham Forest’s future, through music, spoken word and protest costume craft.
Part of the Make it Happen Fellowship Funding programme.
