Virtual Culture Programme 2020
KIT KITE is a specially designed activity kit, created by local making experts, Blackhorse Workshop. Inspired by Japanese kite making traditions, this simple Kimono (sode) kite is made using a lashed stick frame, introducing traditional fastening techniques and lightweight parachute material.
1000 kits have been distributed around the Borough and people are busy designing, decorating and flying their kites now. Participants were challenged to channel their message to the world, dedicate them to their heroes and showcase their design and making skills.
These flying symbols of renewed hope and freedom will be brought together for events and displayed with pride in the Borough’s high streets. Look out for them!
