Local heroes Damon Albarn, Zarah Hussain, Talvin Singh and Matthew Bourne join forces to celebrate Waltham Forest’s year as London Borough of Culture 2019.

Announced by the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, the programme will put culture at the heart of the local community and inspire a new generation of creative talent. From concerts performed in the canopies of Epping Forest to a mass cycling procession to mark May Day, 2019 will be an unforgettable year.

Celebrate the start of our year in the spotlight by coming to the biggest party Waltham Forest has ever seen; a three-night festival of music, light, dance, street theatre and awe-inspiring art to which everyone is invited: Welcome to the Forest, Friday 11-Sunday 13 January 2019.

The year ahead will showcase and shine a light on the fantastic cultural activities already taking place across the borough, whilst providing new opportunities for people from all backgrounds to share, converse, and connect with each other in person and digitally. Deliberately blurring the line between residents, professional artists and community members, Waltham Forest London borough of Culture is a space where art, ideas, and action collide.
