Leytonstone Ballroom is opening to mark Waltham Forest being named the first ever London Borough of Culture for 2019. The historic East London music and arts venue, recently restored, will help develop and build the legacy of the London Borough of Culture and cement Waltham Forest as a thriving cultural hub.

The Red Lion in Leytonstone has a rich cultural heritage. The pub dates back to the 17th Century, and has stood in its current guise since 1891. It became one of East London’s premier live music venues in the 1970s, hosting one of Led Zeppelin’s first London gigs, as well as the likes of Yes, Genesis, and Roxy Music. More recently the Ballroom has played host to modern legends such as Norman Jay, Jazzie B and Craig Charles.
