Chingford Venues
If you’re from Chingford, Highams Park, Leyton, Leytonstone or Walthamstow, you can join the Carnivalista Culture Mas Camp. A free programme of carnival costume workshops for families and friends of all ages. Everyone is welcome to join the weekly carnival club that runs from July to August at 4 locations across Chingford, Leyton and Leytonstone.
The Chingford workshops will be running across two venues Hale End Library and Paradox Community Centre.
Hale End Library workshops, Wednesdays, 4:30pm - 8:30pm on July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31
Paradox Community Centre, Thursdays, 4:30pm - 8:30pm on July 4, 11, 18, 25 and August 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29
Workshops are free and you can visit as many as you like throughout the programme. No prior experience necessary and all equipment and tools will be provided.
Carnivalista Culture will celebrate the customs and traditions of processions and masquerade of the diverse people living in the borough. We will explore the roots, rituals and practices of the abundant cultures settled for generations, that have travelled from across the globe to further enrich the lives of all who live in and visit the borough
Led by award winning Carnival Designer and Director, Roland Noel, and his expert team of carnival makers you will help to design and create costumes, learn simple parade movements and steps and form parade troupes that will take part in events around the Borough and Margate, Notting Hill and Hackney carnivals.
