Remembrance Sunday

There will be Remembrance Day services across Waltham Forest on Sunday as we remember those who served to defend our freedoms in World War I and II. Parades will be taking place across Chingford, Walthamstow, Leyton and Leytonstone.

Arabs Are Not Funny!

Arabs Are Not Funny comes to One Hoe Street where they are set to deliver a great show with a very interesting line-up of comedians representing the Arab world and surrounding regions. This show is widely regarded as one of the hottest comedy nights among the Arab community and beyond. If you like controversial, modern chat, these comedians will bring it in spades. Featuring Sezar Alkassab, Isabelle Farah, Maria Shehata, Leila Ladhari and Nadeen Haidar. All acts in English. Book tickets now.
The Imagined Forest
13 November, Walthamstow Trades Hall, £7 + booking fee
Part of The People's Forest season, The Imagined Forest sees a panel of writers whose work touches on Epping Forest discuss the landscape in the context of myth, folklore and how woodland shapes human identity. As part of the evening, musician Alison Cotton will perform songs from her new album, All Is Quiet in The Ancient Theatre. Book tickets here.
Echoes: Unearthing Stories of the Forest
12 November 2019 - 3 January 2020, The View and Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge, free
Also part of The People’s Forest season, Epping Forest’s Artist-in-Residence, composer/violinist Ellie Wilson has created Echoes: Unearthing Stories of the Forest, a new installation of musical works inspired by human impact on the forest through the centuries, which will be available to experience as a public installation at The View in Chingford. Inside Out Festival
10 November, George Mason Lodge, free
Inside Out Festival is a celebration of creativity and co-creation between residents, professional artists and nearby makers who have joined together to develop a programme of large-scale art installations at two local care homes. The public opening of the George Mason Lodge with artists Natalie Keymist and Sue Mayo is taking place on 10 November. Also mark your diaries for the public opening of the Glebelands exhibition with artists Ben Connors and Hassan Vawda, which will take place on 24 November. Find out more here.
Waltham Forest Poetry Competition
14 November, One Hoe Street, free
Come and find out who has won this year's Waltham Forest Poetry Competition and join in the celebrations. Judge Graham Clifford will be dishing out the prizes and will perform alongside local hip-hop artist Kitch. The winning poets will all be reading, and there's an open mic on the theme of 'Where I'm From'. Find out more here.
